Winter Wildlife Walk & Afternoon Tea - Sunday 9th November 2014

Tue 11 Nov 2014

Well what an absolute treat we have had this wonderful sunny Sunday afternoon at Cambridge Meridian GC. Thanks to the expert guides of David Elcomb retired RSPB head of education and Sian and Georgina from the local wildlife trust for pointing out the abundance of wild life , flora and fauna, we saw all the usual suspects , Crows, Ravens , Starlings, Gulls, Pigeons, Ducks , Moorhens, Swans and Blackbirds . Also after nearly giving up we saw one of the normally present Green Woodpeckers and a Heron. There was other treats in store seeing some Redwings and Fieldfares and hearing the call of a Kingfisher wow! Although we didn't see any mammals there were plenty of signs they were present by the little burrows , mole hill, little regularly used pathway routes and also Muntjac prints in one of the bunkers! All this and then back to the clubhouse for a warm up over a lovely cup of tea, assorted sandwiches and cake great ! by Jan Harmer
