Latest Club Competition News July 15

Here's the July update:

"Chris O'Connor (pictured) was the worthy winner of the Captain's Prize at Cambridge Meridian Golf Club's Men's Captain's Day with 46 Stableford points. He finished 2 points ahead of Peter Houlder, with Gareth Williams in third place.  The Ladies prize went to Ladies Club Captain Jan Harmer who finished ahead of Tammini Hurst.  Alan Falconer won the guest award ahead of Kobus Blomerus.  The team of Gary Matthews, Paul Crawford, Peter Houlder and Ian Lennon won the team prize.  £850 was raised on the day for the Charity Sunflowers Care Ltd, Cottenham, a very worthy local cause.

Bob Boulton was victorious in the Men's July Monthly Medal with nett 67. Dave Collins held off both Bob Taylor and Terry Kennerson on count back after all scored nett 70.

John Milton finished well ahead of the field in the Men's July Monthly Stableford with 42 points, five ahead of Boulton with Collins a further point behind.

Darren Corn was the narrow winner of the Men's July mid-week Stableford with 36 points, one ahead of Andy Breacker who held off John Summers on count back.

Daniel Killian finished 3 shots ahead of Collins in the Men's July mid-week Medal with nett 70. Jimmy Martin was a further two shots behind holding off Breacker on count back.

Milton was again triumphant in winning the Men's Jubilee Cup with 40 Stableford points. Houlder finished runner up on count back from Martin and Gubby Panesar after all scored 36 points.

The Men's team eased through to the Final of the CAGU Jock Stewart a Memorial Trophy with a semi-final win by 2 matches to 1 at home to St Neots Golf Club.  Wins for Killian and Tom Moody and Jim Farrier and Jez West were offset by a narrow loss for O'Connor and Kennerson. The Club will play Barkway in the Final at Newmarket Golf Club.

Patrick Hamilton was the outright winner of the Seniors first July Summer Cup Stableford with 48 points, 4 ahead of Paul Crawford, with John Ogilvie a further point behind.  Ogilvie however took first place in the second July Summer Cup Stableford with 40 points on count back from John Bishop.  Peter Hurcombe was third with 39 points.

Mike Cook was victorious in the Seniors July Summer Medal with nett 70. Roger Harrison held off Eddie Smith and Keith Thomas on count back after all scored nett 72.

Tammini Hurst led the field in the Ladies July Monthly Stableford with 36 points, two ahead of Jan Harmer with Catherine Vagh a further point behind.

Ann Wright won the Ladies July mid-week Stableford with 30 points.  Margaret Donohue was second with 23 points".
