Junior News Update

Mon 05 Aug 2013

It seems hard to believe that another year is coming to an end with Junior season.

We have had a reasonable year but sadly without any silverwear at the end of it. That said, the team lead by Captain Robert Dyke have performed as well as expected.

Individually Jordan Hardwidge won the Club Championship and Junior Club Championship, Sam Hills won the Club Nett Championship and Robert Dyke retained his Junior Open and Scratch Cup trophies. The Juniors regained the inter club challenge trophy defeating the Men and the Seniors in the process. We also retained the Pountain Cup at Newmarket GC.

The section also made a significant contribution to the Clubs Scratch Team with Jordan, Robert and Jamie Sandford all playing on a regular basis and helping the club to it's best finish for some time.

Others in the club have made huge strides this year, Tom Moody, Sam Hills, Liam Webber and Jamie Sandford are all much better and more consistent than 12 months ago and I have to pay tribute to their hard work and dedication in achieving this.

As always we have to say good bye to some players, Junior Captain, Robert Dyke has moved on to the men's ranks and he will be very difficult to replace. Jordan Hardwidge is at college in Essex and may not be available to us as much as previous years and Jamie sandford has joined another club and will no doubt be playing against us next time. We wish them all well and look forward to seeing them all improve over the coming years.

I would also like to thank owners Jenny and Vivien and the Club committee for their continued support throughout the year. Also a special thank you to Garry Swain and the Senior Section who continue to support and encourage all the Juniors members.
