    Cambridge Meridian Junior Open

On Sunday 3rd June, we held the Cambridge Meridian Junior Open, and this was organised and run by the British Junior Golf Tour.

The day was a great success, with nearly 80 players in the field, with an impressive score of 1 under par winning the day.

The British Junior Golf Tour Report

It was a very warm and sunny day for our first of two outings this season at the Cambridge Meridian GC, the beautiful course straddling the Greenwich Meridian Line – just one of 10 courses in the world to do so – and designed by Ryder Cup players Peter Alliss and Clive Clark.

  • A warm welcome to Ian

    A warm welcome to Ian

Most members will have already had a chance to meet Ian Cochrane over the last few weeks, in and around the Clubhouse at Meridian.

Ian will now be taking over the position of PGA Head Professional at the Club where he will have full responsibility for Teaching, Shop Management, Marketing and all things to do with Golf. A tall order but Ian readily admits that he likes taking on new challenges.

Ian will bring with him an excellent reputation for Coaching Golf in the area where he has been based at Hemingford Grey Golf and Conference centre for the last 12 years, both in the capacity of Academy Director and the centres General Manager.

  • Cambridge Meridian Junior Club Championships

    Cambridge Meridian Junior Club Championships

On Saturday 23rd September Cambridge Meridian GC contested their Junior Club Championships for the first time in a number of years.
We had 5 boys and 3 girls playing in what turned out to be a very tightly contested competition, mainly between Charlie Taylor and Rhys Davies.
It went right down to the 18th hole with Rhys Davies eventually winning by a single shot with a very credible gross 91 and best net score 72.

Evie Le May who won the junior girls 9 hole championship with a gross 56 net 38 playing really consistent golf.

A big well done to everyone who played and I think we can agree it was a great days golf played in the right spirit on a warm and sunny afternoon which was a lovely bonus!

  • Junior Captains Day

    Junior Captains Day

On Saturday 9th September the junior section celebrated our newly appointed Junior Captain, Nathan Le May at his official drive-in which was followed by a 9 hole Team Texas Scramble event.
We had 23 juniors playing from a total membership of 27 which I think you will agree was a fantastic turn out. The day started with the club chairman, David Wenham, kindly passing on some kind words of encouragement and best wishes to the junior section.
All juniors and parents then moved up to the first tee and we all watched William Millard, outgoing junior Captain, hand over his captaincy to Nathan. This was followed by Nathan's drive-in which was dispatched straight down the middle of the 1st fairway with a lovely soft draw, much to the envy of everyone watching around the 1st tee box and many club members sitting outside the club house. A great entrance and big relief to our new junior Captain.
